Remainder of the School Year Plans

Boistfort Parents and Students,

I am writing with some information about school material delivery for the remainder of this year. I am also trying to see about our community’s interest in a summer lunch program. I hope you will take the time to respond about the summer lunch program by sending an email as we continue to prepare for a summer lunch service if needed.

Possible Summer Meal Program:

We are asking for you to send an email back to us letting us know you would like for us to prepare meals over the summer or if you are not interested. One change will be that this will be a Pick-up only meal service. This is an unplanned budgetary item that we will look for ways to support.

Updates on Homework and the Last Day of School Year:

We appreciate all of your students’ work as we transitioned to remote learning over 10 weeks ago. I had written earlier to explain that the state had asked us to extend our school year to the 19th to support more student contact time and work missed. Chris Reykdal informed us that this has now changed and we can follow our original school calendar as long as we provided 180 days of instructional materials. Boistfort did not take a break and sent material and supplies since the state closed all schools in Washington state on the 17th of March. This will mean that our last day will be June 11th.

8th Grade Graduation and Celebration Parade:

  • Graduation Date in August TBD
  • Celebration Parade – June 10th at 6 PM

Graduates will ride in a car through a short loop in front of the grange and school. We will have a care package for each student to show them how proud we are of them and sad that they are moving on to high school, they will be missed. I hope you can come cheer and honk for our graduates as  we hope to make this a celebration that will remember as they head off to high school.

Next Year

We are still in the planning stage for next year. There are several different models that have been proposed that will allow us on site learning but these are often adjusted based on recommendations from state officials. I will be sharing ideas as they become more concrete as guidance continues to change based on the CDC and state agencies recommendations.  These notifications will come in emails and via the post office as we are given more guidance over the next few weeks.

I hope that you are all enjoying the weather that we are having and look forward to seeing everyone when we are allowed to come back to campus. Stay safe and stay healthy,

Chris Clark
